SUMMARY:SAN JÓSE–Before Silicon Valley Launch
DESCRIPTION:**UPDATE 10/12/23: The venue for the Tardeada from 1-4 pm will now be held at the Roosevelt Community Center\, at 901 E Santa Clara St\, San Jose\, CA 95116. \nSAN JÓSE—Come Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month With the Launch of the Before Silicon Valley Project Website! The day will start with a 10-mile bike ride visiting 5+ Mexican historic sites in San José prominent in the “Before Silicon Valley” website/online exhibit. The ride is part of the Tardeada celebrating the full launch of the online exhibition Before Silicon Valley: Mexican Agricultural and Cannery Workers of Santa Clara County\, 1920-1960. \nAll events are free! \nSchedule:\n10-1 pm (leaves at 10:15 am) MEET AT San Jóse City Hall North Plaza—A 10 mile bike ride of Mexican Historic Sites in San José and Eastside\, that ends back at the San Jóse City Hall North Plaza. \n1–4 pm Roosevelt Community Center—a Tardeada/Family Dance with The Bernie Fuentes Band (a 15-piece orchestra) and DJ Juan Cuellar spinning Mexican-period music from 1920-1960; food trucks; and a continuous showing of four mini-documentaries and an introduction to the project website at City Hall Plaza Rotunda.  \nLearn more on the project’s website.\nThis project is supported by a Humanities for All Project Grant.
