SAN PEDRO—Telling the Stories of Our Elders’ Service

SAN PEDRO—All are invited to listen and learn at this series of free, public, spoken word presentations on the deck of the Battleship Iowa during Fleet Week at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro.

Students will have interviewed current and former California Servicemembers in “Making History Come Alive” meet-up events – some onsite at Fleet Week and some at prior events. They will then share what they wrote: what surprised them, touched them, what they related to, what broke stereotypes, or simply what stories and experiences they wanted to record and honor, both individual and collective histories that might be lost if not for their documentary efforts and care.

Appropriate for ages 9-18. Free and open to the public.

When: May 24, 25, 26, & 27, 2024 from 3:30 to 4:00pm
