California on the Ballot Returns October 14–After the Vote: Recall Elections in California

Thirty days after the California Gubernatorial Recall Election, on October 14 at 4 pm PST California Humanities invites you to reflect with us at “After the Vote: Recall Elections in California”, a free, online conversation with seasoned political strategist Dan Schnur, professor at USC and UC-Berkeley, and California-based election experts Carla Marinucci of POLITICO California Playbook and Seema Mehta of the Los Angeles Times. This program kicks off our second season of California on the Ballot, a free public discussion series examining the past, present, and future of electoral engagement in California.

Rather than debate the recent recall, we’ll investigate broad humanities questions about the genesis of the recall process with an eye to its uncertain future. How was the recall process created? How do other states and countries “recall” their elected leaders? What reforms are being proposed today? Tune into this one-hour roundtable and ask questions of the experts in a live Q&A.

Register here. With questions or accommodation requests, write to Program Associate Kirsten Vega at kvega@calhum.org.
