We couldn’t be more excited to announce the newest round of Community Stories grant recipients! We’re awarding nearly $200,000 throughout California to 19 projects that cast a light on unique community narratives within our state.

These new projects–ranging from an online exhibition, screening, and discussion programs based on oral histories collected from women who lived, worked, and traveled on Route 66; to exhibits and a film documentary about Stockton’s Filipino-American history based on 26 recently discovered trunks and personal artifacts; to a 1,000-square-foot mural and self-guiding audio tour in Uptown Whittier documenting the rich tradition of creative reuse by artisans from its diverse community–join the slate of nearly 500 unique and compelling projects we’ve funded since the Community Stories program’s inception in 2003, and which together weave a diverse and complex narrative of our state.
