ARCATA– As part of the Let’s Talk About the Middle East film and discussion series, Humboldt State Univerity History professor Dr. Leena Dallasheh hosts a screening of Mustang (2015, France/Germany/Turkey/Qatar)
Set deep in rural Anatolia, Turkey, this is a story of five teenage sisters, orphaned at a young age and raised by relatives. As they begin to explore their womanhood, they face a conservative society. Attempting to control them and guarantee suitable marriages, their family makes them prisoners in their homes, but that doesn’t stop hope and rebellious aspirations.
The screening and discussion will take place at The Miniplex at Richards’ Goat
401 I Street, Arcata, CA 95521
