In December, we introduced What We Share: Culture. Community. California — Connection as the framework guiding our work at California Humanities. Today, we’re sharing how that commitment is taking shape in real and immediate ways.
We’re pleased to announce the launch of Connecting California Quick Grants—a new funding opportunity designed to support public projects that bring people together across difference, foster empathy, and strengthen community connection throughout California.
Connecting California Quick Grants support:
- California-based nonprofits and public agencies, including libraries, schools, and tribal governments
- Publicly accessible events and activities that build trust, understanding, and connection across difference
- Grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, with multiple application rounds throughout the year
These grants reflect What We Share in action: supporting locally rooted work that honors lived experience, encourages dialogue, and helps Californians better understand one another.
You’ll also notice updates to our website that reflect this shared framework and make it easier to explore our grantmaking, programs, and storytelling efforts moving forward.
Later this spring, we’ll continue this work through Reclaiming Our Stories, a forthcoming podcast series amplifying Native California voices and narrative sovereignty. More details will be shared as we approach its May debut.
For now, we invite you to explore the Connecting California Quick Grant and consider how your community’s work fits into this shared vision.
