On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Noon, the Collective Joy Project continues with a powerful conversation: Land Back, Joy Forward: Rematriation of Land and Indigenous Futures.
We are honored to welcome Tina Orduno Calderon, a Culture Bearer of Gabrielino Tongva, Chumash, Yoeme, and Chicana descent. Tina is a singer, song keeper, dancer, storyteller, poet, and composer, who has written more than two dozen original songs in the ancestral languages of Tongvé and Chumash. Her artistry and voice connect past and present, reminding us of the wisdom carried forward through generations.
In her role as Ocean Protectors Program Director for the Sacred Places Institute for Indigenous Peoples — and as a cultural advisor and board member for numerous organizations — Tina has become a guiding presence in environmental and cultural advocacy. She speaks often of the sacred responsibility to honor land, water, minerals, plants, animal relatives, and the elements that sustain us all.
This session will invite us to reflect on what it means to restore the right relationship with land and community. Through Tina’s stories and songs, we will explore how rematriation is not only about returning land but also about embracing joy as a pathway to Indigenous futures.
The Collective Joy Project is about finding belonging, connection, and joy through culture and storytelling. Tina’s presence on September 9 will invite us to pause, listen, and reflect on what it means to live in the right relationship—with each other and with the Earth. Her work is not only a celebration of cultural survival but also a call to action: to honor the sacred, to restore balance, and to embrace joy as resistance and healing.
Join us as we celebrate this journey with Tina and carry her songs, stories, and teachings into our own lives.
