PLACERVILLE— Specters On Glass: A Conversation With Archivist and Historian Mary Cory

Placerville—Arts and Culture El Dorado presents a public talk in relation to their current exhibition Specters On Glass. This exhibition examines the relationship between the prevalence of portrait photography and the changing social landscape of early 20th century California. Exhibition curator Marya Osucha and historian and archivist Mary Cory will discuss the role of portrait photography in defining the modern “self” and the way in which the images in this exhibition facilitate a nuanced understanding of Historic Placerville.
