A memoir which deals with Houston’s interment as a Japanese American during World War II.
Author Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston was at the Inglewood Public Library to discuss her book, Farewell to Manzanar in April 2012.
Our partner, Mary Menzel, at California Center for the Book, led a discussion about the memoir, which deals with Houston’s interment as a Japanese American during World War II. The conversation which ensued showed audience members how her story relates to contemporary issues. The event was open to community members ages ten to adult.
For 2012, the California Reads program was part of our Searching for Democracy initiative.
