Help fund a community mini-grant this Giving Tuesday with California Humanities.
Every story starts with a spark—a question, a gathering, a shared idea that grows into something larger. Across California, that spark often begins with a small grant from California Humanities.
This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to help us raise the first $2,500 toward a $5,000 community mini-grant—a small but mighty investment that supports local libraries, museums, and nonprofit organizations in creating programs that bring people together through storytelling, conversation, and public engagement. We would like to see 25 of our supporters provide a $100 contribution to help launch this work in 2026.
From youth poetry workshops in the Central Valley to oral history projects in the North Coast to cultural festivals in Southern California, our mini-grants empower communities to explore what connects us and celebrate California’s many voices.
When we fund even one new project, we open the door for dozens of people to come together, listen, and imagine. That’s the power of generosity—it creates connections.
“Each grant represents a seed of possibility,” says Rick Noguchi, President & CEO of California Humanities. “When we invest in local ideas, we strengthen the bonds that make California such a vibrant, creative, and compassionate state.”
Your collective generosity can help us reach our first milestone—$2,500 raised on Giving Tuesday—and move one step closer to fully funding a new mini-grant of up to $5,000 in 2026. Help us bring one more community’s story to life.
Donate today and help fund the next spark of connection.
